Out of curiosity, I tried disabling the ‘Audio Device on High Definition Bus’ from device manager, and the Audigy 2 still works nonetheless.
I have to admit I have only tried 2. While this results in good quality video even on basic systems, the device cannot be used by software that uses the standard DirectShow or VfW interface.

In reply to AppleStars’s post on September 15, When I said “three stickers”, I meant that the Dell version has three large white stickers. Follow the instructions on the screen. With these cards only one of the mic, line in, or AUX sources may be unmuted at a time.
On the upper right corner of the card, it is clearly written Audigy 2 ZS. But otherwise it works. The best way to identify the Dell variant is by looking at the serial number, not the model number. Reply to this review Read reply 1 Was this review helpful?

This check box must be selected to avoid reinstallation issues. The Audigy and Live shared a similar architectural limitation: I don’t understand why the original installer disc isn’t working for sp. It’s a shame because the card is fine for what I need it for, it registers as ‘High Definition Audio Device’.
Have you tried with the onboard video, remove the video card and see if it will even detect in the first slot? From the the Confirm Device Uninstall dialog box, select the Delete the driver software for this device option. Was this review helpful? Double-click the Sound, video and game controllers option.
Sound Blaster Audigy
I know Creative really doesn’t like when it’s not located as the first PCI device in the system Guess what, it works! As a workaround, use a 3rd party software media aucigy to playback DVDs.
Cons After reformatting my hard drive I tried to install my “Audigy” hi def sound program. The setup will now exit. Windows will detect the Audigy sound card, but Creative Sounr own driver-install will not; after multiple tries in various forms and with different versions of the driver-install, I finally gave up.
